Alumnus of the Year

This award is given to someone who has utilized their degree to achieve outstanding accomplishments in their field on an international or national basis. Southeastern’s Alumnus of the Year is an individual who reflected outstanding qualities as a Southeastern student, who has excelled in his or field after graduation and who continues to be supportive and active in Southeastern’s future.

Young Alumnus of the Year

Created in 2011, the Young Alumnus of the Year Award is to recognize an individual, age 40 or under, who has already achieved outstanding success in their vocational field, and has demonstrated a continued commitment to the University and their community.

Kathy L. Pittman Distinguished Service Award

The Distinguished Service Award was renamed in 2015 in honor of Alumni Director Kathy L. Pittman.  The recipient is selected by the Alumni Association Board of Directors. The award is presented to an individual who has gone above and beyond in generously donating their time and talent toward the betterment of the Alumni Association.

L.E. Chandler Award

Presented by the Past Presidents chapter of the Alumni Association, this award recognizes a faculty, staff, or alumnus who has assisted students in their efforts and accomplishment of extra curricular activities.

Distinguished Alumnus from each College

This award is presented to individuals who have distinguished themselves among the best of Southeastern graduates and have used their degree to become successful on their chosen fields on the local or state level, have demonstrated service to the University, and made contributions to their communities. Chosen by the colleges of the University, the recipients are a shining example of the unparalleled programs from which they graduated.

Friendship Oak Awards

The Friendship Oak was created to perpetuate the tradition of the friendship oak and its symbolism of strength, beauty, and lasting relationships. More importantly, it represents our alma mater and the giving power of knowledge and education. It has been presented not only to alumni but also by the University as a special gift to officiates of foreign countries and visiting dignitaries.

Director's Diamond Award

Frequently, there is one person who is outstanding in volunteering their time to assist the director of the Alumni Association with special projects. Their guidance, inspiration, and assistance make day to day operations easier for the entire Alumni staff. This award is selected and presented at the discretion of the Director of Alumni Relations.
