2006 Distinguished Alumnus: Steven Daigle

 

Steven Daigle received a bachelor's degree in vocal education and performance in 1987 from Southeastern. He is head of the opera program at the Eastman School of Music, where he has served on the faculty since 1997. He is dramatic director of Eastman School of the artistic staff for more than 300 lyric theater productions and production stage manager of more than 400 professional operatic performances.

 

Daigle's directing credits include productions for the Eastman School of Music, Mercury Opera of Rochester, the Lyric of Atlanta, Oberlin Conservatory, Louisiana State University, Florida State Opera, South Georgia Opera, Kent State Opera Workshop and the Columbia Theatre Players. Productions include collaborations with Pulitzer Prize winning composters, legendary Broadway Composers, and American opera composers and conductors.As a singer he has performed major roles in productions such as A Little Night of Music, Hello Dolly, Le Nozze di Figaro, Die Fledermaus, and Guys and Dolls.  

 

He was named Southeastern's 2006 Distinguished Alumnus from the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
