Al Link, a 1963 graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, has 50 years of involvement in the education field. Al Link played basketball for the lions before becoming a teacher and coach at Hammond High School. He later served as Hammond High's principal. Upon retirement in 1998, he was elected to the Tangipahoa Parish School Board. He has served as president of the board for three terms.
His involvement with athletics includes service for over 25 years. His involvement
in community activities has also been high on his list of accomplishments including
serving on the Tangipahoa Economic Development Foundation, Commissioner of Dixie Boys
Baseball, being on the Hammond Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, the Southeastern
Alumni Association Board of Directors, The United Way Committee, and the New Horizons
Youth Service Bureau.
