2010 Distinguished Alumnus: Michael Minkus

 

Michael Minkus of Hammond is a 1980 Southeastern graduate with a degree in physics. He joined Texaco in 1981 as a programmer in Texaco USA's headquarters planning department. After serving in various assignments of increasing responsibilities, he was named supervisor of the IBM and PC support team in the Exploration and Production Division in New Orleans in 1986. Minkus was ultimately named Vice President of Texaco Communications and was the Chairman of the Global IT telecommunications Council. He retired from Chevron Texaco in 2002 and returned to Hammond. Minkus is a past president and chairman of Leadership Tangipahoa and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Knights of Columbus, being named Knight of the year in 2005 and 2009.
