Mission

The Academic & Career Exploration (ACE) office provides academic coaching and major exploration to undergraduate students who are seeking to improve college-level learning or would like guidance in deciding on their major.

ACE offers a reflective space for students to assess their academic goals, identify strengths and values, and develop personal and professional skills that extend beyond college. With a focus on growth mindset, effective study habits, learning strategies, time management, and problem-solving, ACE equips students to excel academically and build a strong foundation for future success.

ACE also helps students explore their options and requirements regarding majors, how different majors align with potential career paths, and how self-knowledge can drive their academic direction.

Goals

  • Improve student progression by providing major/career guidance, information, and resources.
  • Increase student persistence through student-centered guidance and the development of effective learning strategies, academic skills, and successful college practices.
  • Advise freshmen who no longer have a FYS advisor.
  • Monitor and address students’ evolving needs through the collection of real-time student voice and measurements (via Edsights Roomie Chatbot) and dissemination to university offices.
