The College of Nursing has partnered with University Housing to offer the Health Professions Living Learning Community (LLC), open only to entering freshmen in the College of Nursing. The community is housed in Twelve Oaks Hall (pictured below) – a state-of-the-art residence hall in the heart of campus.
What is an LLC?
Living Learning Communities (LLCs) are residential programs that allow you to connect with a diverse group of students who share a common focus. Students live together and participate in shared courses, special events and service projects as a group.

Students participating in the Health Professions LLC will
- Live together in Twelve Oaks Hall
- Enroll in special sections of SE 102 (fall and spring) taught right where you live
- Enroll in an LLC Healthcare section of English 101 (If applicable)
- Participate in events/activities outside the classroom
- Connect with peers that share similar academic interests
- Interact and network with college faculty and other professionals
Our Leaders
Dr. Ann Carruth is the dean of the college of nursing and health sciences and professor of nursing. She was appointed dean in April 2012. Dr. Carruth earned a baccalaureate degree in nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She received a Doctor of Nursing Science degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. Dr. Carruth has over 30 years of nursing education experience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and has been a faculty member at Southeastern since 1990. Dr. Carruth has been recognized for numerous honors based on her teaching and service to the nursing profession including: Rho Zeta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Outstanding Researcher of the Year award; Sarah K. Thornhill Endowed Professorship in Nursing, President’s Award for Excellence in Research; Outstanding Researcher Award from the Louisiana Nurses’ Foundation. She also received the EPIC Corporation Endowed Professorship in Nursing. In 2014, Dr. Carruth was inducted into the Louisiana Nurses Foundation Hall of Fame. Dr. Carruth is a member of several professional nursing organizations and has served in various roles within these organizations. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Rho Zeta Chapter, and Phi Kappa Phi. She is a past president of the Tangipahoa District Nurses Association. She currently serves as vice chair of the Board of Commissioners at North Oaks Health System and currently a governor appointed member to the State Board of Nursing. Dr. Carruth is widely published in many peer-reviewed journals and has presented at state and national conferences. She has received internal and external grant funding to support research and programmatic efforts consistent with the mission of the university.
Lindsay Domiano is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing and currently serves as Graduate Program Coordinator for the School of Nursing. Lindsay graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University School of Nursing in 1999 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and in 2005 with a Master’s of Science in Nursing Education. Lindsay began her career as a nurse educator in 2005 as an instructor in the Southeastern Louisiana University School of Nursing. Lindsay specializes in med/surg and emergency department nursing. In 2014, she received her PHD in Nursing Education and Administration from William Carey University in Hattiesburg, MS. Lindsay is currently certified as a Certified Nurse Educator. Dr. Lindsay Domiano is a recipient of the Sara K. Thornhill Endowed Professorship in Nursing. This professorship has enabled Lindsay to develop and implement the College of Nursing Health Professions Living Learning Community along with Dr. Bryan and Dr. Carruth.
Felicia Murret, MSN, RN
Instructor & Undergraduate Coordinator Southeastern Louisiana University School of Nursing
Felicia Murret is a dedicated nurse educator and leader who serves as an Instructor and the Undergraduate Coordinator for the School of Nursing at Southeastern Louisiana University. With a career rooted in deep clinical expertise and a passion for academic excellence, Mrs. Murret plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of nursing professionals. Felicia began her nursing career as an ASN prepared RN with a degree from Pellissippi State in East Tennessee. She completed her BSN at King University in Knoxville, Tennessee and went on to obtain a Masters degree in Nursing Education from Western Governors University.

Beyond the traditional classroom, Mrs. Murret is a fervent advocate for student development. Her professional interests lie heavily in student success coaching, where she provides the mentorship and guidance necessary for students to navigate the rigors of the nursing program. She is driven by a lifelong passion for encouraging every student to realize and reach their optimal potential.
