Important Documents and Forms

If you want to apply to medical school (or any other pre-professional school) for
the 2024 Entering Class – NOW  is the time to get your application ready!

A minimum overall GPA of 3.5 is required to be evaluated by the MEC and a science GPA of 3.7 or higher is recommended.

In past years the average GPA of students accepted into LSU Medical School was 3.8!

NOTE! Please be aware of the following important deadlines in 2024!

The deadline for submitting the online ” Notice of Intent” is the first week in May.

The deadline for submitting your written evaluation request and all forms to the pre-medical advisor is the week after finals week in spring. The final chance to submit your application
for the 2024 evaluation process is Friday, May 17 at 12noon. After this date and time you will have to wait until next year!

If you are planning to go on a vacation right after finals it is crucial that you
submit your application before you leave! Check the timetable below for a tentative schedule of the evaluation process.

Please do not submit an incomplete form. Check this list and download it as a PDF file!

What to submit:

If you have been evaluated before you will not need to go through the entire process all over again. If you took new
courses since your last evaluation you will need to submit updated documents and forms.
If you graduated and didn’t take additional courses you only need to email a brief
update about what you have been doing since we saw you last.

If you are new to the evaluation process you will need to submit all documents and forms as outlined below and you will need
to be interviewed. Please see the timetable below for details on the MEC evaluation
process.

The following documents should be emailed as attachments to the pre-medical advisor . Please use this email address: [email protected]  and do not change the file formats.

  • Evaluation Request with your personal information (Word file; version 2018).
  • A Personal Fact Sheet. This is a resume detailing your education, achievements, awards, medical and other
professional experience (Word file; version 2018).
  • MEC Evaluation Worksheet (Excel file; version 2018).
Click here for an example(PDF file).
  • MEC Science Course List(Excel file; version 2018).
List all science courses (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Math) that you have taken
at Southeastern and list your grades and credit hours for these courses. List all courses you have
repeated twice (or as many times that you took them).
  • A copy of your complete and up-to-date Transcript (attach as Word or PDF file).
The unofficial version from LeoNet is ok – but remember, you need an official transcript
    for your application later.
  • Your one-to-two page Personal Statement (Word file).
This will be really important for the interview – work on it over an extended period
of time. It is what sets you apart from all other applicants.
    * List any extenuating circumstances that may have affected your academic
    performance.
    * List any unusual talents and all extracurricular activities – especially those that

    demonstrate leadership.
    * Most importantly, emphasize any experience you have in the medical field that
prove your dedication to the medical field.
  • Medical school applicants: Your AMCAS Letter (the one with the bar code) that has your AMCAS ID# and the letter ID# on it. Please
make sure it names Dr. Stiller as your “Committee Letter Writer” and remember that
the year is NEXT year (attach as PDF file).
All other applicants: Just name Dr. Stiller as your committee letter writer in your respective application
portal. This will generate an automatic link that will be emailed to Dr. Stiller.
  • A recent Professional Photo. For the MEC evaluation, size and print quality doesn’t matter. For your official
application, you will need to upload an electronic copy.
The photo is your first impression. Make sure you are wearing business attire in front
    of a neutral backdrop.
  • New FERPA Statement allowing the committee to disclose your personal information in our recommendation
letters. Please sign and date. You might need to print it to sign. In that case send me a photo of the signed document.

You will be invited by a member of the Medical School Evaluation Committee for a brief
one-on-one interview followed by a personal interview in front of the whole committee.
Be available for those interviews.
