Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training(Program closing in May 2023 to transition to the Master of Science in Athletic Training)

Accreditation

The BS in Athletic Training at SLU is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Southeastern was the first university in Louisiana to have an accredited Athletic Training program. Accreditation was initially obtained October 18, 2002, and the current accreditation extends until 2027. The Master of Science in Athletic Training degree (MSAT) at Southeastern Louisiana University is currently accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), 2001 K Street NW, Third Floor North, Washington, DC 20006 USA. The program is currently applying to the CAATE for a change in level of degree and is pending approval.

Board of Certification (BOC) Exam Scores

As an accreditation requirement, universities are required to report data on the number of graduates who take and pass the BOC exam in the past 3 years.Ā  ClickĀ hereĀ CAATE for results.

Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education

Southeastern’s teacher education program is nationally accredited by theĀ National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).Ā As part of this university-wide accreditation, teacher education degrees must be approved by an NCATE-sponsored ā€œspecialized professional associationā€ (SPA). Our NCATE SPA is the National Association for Sport and Physical Education, and the BS in Health and Physical Education at Southeastern is an approved NASPE program.
