About:
Dr. Acosta is an Associate Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics. He earned a Ph.D. from Tulane University in 1997 under the direction of the topologist Terry Lawson and has been at Southeastern since 1998.

Teaching Focus:
Dr. Acosta regularly teaches calculus II, combinatorics, discrete mathematics, real analysis, topology, linear algebra, precalculus, trigonometry, and applied algebra.

Area of Expertise

Dr. Acosta is interested in low dimensional topology, especially the study of smooth 4-dimensional manifolds. He is also interested in the history of mathematics and in mathematics education as it pertains to middle and high school curricula.
