Michelle Reed completed her Diploma in Nursing from Baton Rouge General School of Nursing in 1989. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1997. She received her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty in Community Psychosocial Nursing and a focus in Nursing Education at Southeastern Louisiana University in 1999, followed by two Post-Master’s Certificates: Adult Nurse Practitioner in 2009, and Family Nurse Practitioner in 2013.
As a coach in the RN-BSN Program, Mrs. Reed supports Registered Nurses in advancing toward their Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She provides encouragement, flexibility, and practical resources to help students balance work, school, and family while building confidence, strengthening academic skills, and reaching their professional goals.
Area of Expertise
With 24 years of experience in nursing education, Mrs. Reed has taught courses in health assessment, pharmacology, pathophysiology, and clinical skills, and served as a clinical advisor. She has contributed through departmental and university committees, coordinated skills labs across two campuses with full budget oversight, and ensured student health compliance as Health Records Compliance Chair.
Mrs. Reed contributed to the advancement of nursing education by developing a new ASN Program on the Northshore. She assisted with the establishment of the Honor Society for nursing, helping oversee the successful transition of the society into the Sigma Theta Tau–Rho Zeta Chapter, while serving as the inaugural Vice-President. Mrs. Reed is currently a member of the Northshore District Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and inactive memberships with Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society---Theta Beta Chapter and Rho Zeta Chapter.
