3 Cohorts of Free Computer Science Praxis Training!

Energize: Geaux for Launch is the second phase of the groundbreaking Energize Project, a Louisiana Department of Education initiative to prepare teachers for the Computer Science Praxis Exam (5652). This program empowers Louisiana public and public charter school teachers of grades 6-12 to effectively bring Computer Science education to their classrooms, energizing learning experiences across the state.

  • Praxis fee waiver for eligible participants
  • Pre and post-practice tests, quizzes, exercises, and tutoring to prepare participants for the 5652 Praxis exam

Choose the right cohort for you!

Virtual Cohort (apply by 01.10.25)

  • Dates: January 19 – May 10
  • Format: Virtual, live sessions on Saturdays
  • Schedule: Saturdays, 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM
  • Capacity: 50 participants
  • Skill level: Our most beginner friendly option, Suited for all skill levels.

Online Cohort (apply by 03.07.25)

  • Dates: March 17 – May 19
  • Format: Asynchronous, 8 Weeks 
  • Capacity: 200 participants
  • Skill level: Best suited for intermediate-advanced educators, and self-motivated beginners.

In Person Cohort (apply by 05.23.25)

  • Dates: June 2 – June 5
  • Format: Face-to-face, intensive training at SELU
  • Schedule: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM with a 45-minute lunch break
  • Capacity: 30 participants
  • Skill Level: Recommended for experienced teachers, who have taught at least two Computer Science courses in grades 6-12. Eligibility may be based on pre-test score.

Recap of our Spring 2024 Energize Project Training

Our inaugural Spring 2024 training, aimed to expand and prepare Louisiana’s Computer Science education workforce.

The Spring 2024 Energize Project training provided almost 800 Louisiana public and public charter school teachers with cutting edge training and study materials tailored for the Computer Science Praxis Exam. 

Educators from all over Louisiana attended training sessions hosted and developed by instructors from Southeastern Louisiana University’s department of computer science. 

The Spring 2024 Energize Project featured 5 cohorts, with remote and in person training options, 40 hours of in depth training for the 5652 Praxis, study materials, practice tests, office hours, review sessions, and a $350 stipend upon course completion!
