Borrowing From Sims Library

Sims Library is happy to serve our campus and community borrowers. Borrowing privileges vary by borrower type. Please refer to the chart below.

Loan Periods

PLEASE NOTE: Loan periods may be shortened to correspond with privilege expiration or semester end dates.

Returning Materials

Return print and AV materials to the inside Checkout Desk book drop or to the outside book drop.  Please do not place equipment, such as laptops, etc., in the book drop. These items must be returned at the front circulation desk. You are responsible for each item until checked in by Library staff. Materials returned when the Library is closed will be processed the following business day. See Library Hours. Please refer to the Circulation Policies pages for more information.

Right to Privacy

Every library user has a right to privacy. Names of borrowers will not be disclosed (Louisiana Revised Statutes, Section 44:13). Please be aware that this statute prohibits us from discussing user accounts with third parties except in the case of parents of minor children. For privacy and security reasons we also do not discuss user accounts over the telephone.

Users who have questions about their accounts should e-mail them to [email protected] and a library staff member will send a response to the user’s Southeastern account. We will send e-mail communications only to the “southeastern.edu” e-mail address if it exists. We will only use other types of e-mail addresses for correspondence in the case of community borrower’s card users or former Southeastern employees and students whose Southeastern accounts are no longer active.
