Presentation Practice Studio



Need to prepare a presentation for class, scholarships, or job interviews? Need a group study room with a computer? “Check-out” Sims Memorial Library's Presentation Practice Studio, Room 256 in the Media Department on the 2nd floor.

Partially funded through a Student Technology Fee grant, the Presentation Practice Studio is a convenient group space on campus where students across a variety of academic disciplines can work individually or in groups to rehearse timing and slide transition or develop oral presentation skills. As the largest group study room in the Library, the Presentation Practice Studio will accommodate up to 15 persons.

Equipment


The Presentation Practice Studio is equipped with the following:

  • Presenter PC
  • Additional VGA and audio attachment for using personal laptops
  • Whiteboard
  • Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint) 2007
  • DVD and VHS viewing equipment
  • Ceiling mounted projector
  • Speaker's podium


Policies


Students may book the Presentation Practice Studio for a period of up to two hours using their university ID. Consecutive bookings will only be allowed if no other students are waiting.

Sims Library also asks that students keep in mind the following guidelines:
  • The Presentation Practice Studio is a Student Tech Fee sponsored service and may only be reserved by university students for study and scholarship purposes.  No organizations please.
  • The studio is not soundproof so students are also asked to limit any excessive noise.
  • At least one group member must remain in the room at all times. The studio must not be left unattended.
  • Equipment in the room should only be rearranged by a staff member from the Media Department.
  • Outside software programs and files should not be downloaded on Library PCs without first consulting the Media Department.
  • Food or drink is not allowed in the Presentation Practice Studio.
