Serials Department

The Serials Department is located on the second floor of the Linus A. Sims Memorial Library. The Department is responsible for the acquisition, processing, circulation, and preservation of all popular magazines, professional journals, newspapers, and newsletters held by the Library.

Recent issues of most titles are arranged alphabetically on shelving in the Current Reading Room (Room 226). Backfiles of journals and newspapers on microfilm are arranged numerically in cabinets adjacent to the recent paper issues. Bound volumes are arranged by Library of Congress (LC) Classification Number on the third floor of the Library.

  • Staff Assistance
    Staff members are available to assist Library users during regular Library hours. Stop by the Departmental Information Desk or Public Service Window in Room 226 for assistance.

  • Public Access Computers
    The Department has 16 public access computers that provide access to the Library catalog, databases, the Internet, and Microsoft Office programs.

  • Copy Services
    Copying of print and microfilm resources is available at machines located in the Department. Resources on microfilm can also be scanned using the Department's digital scanners.
