David Armand to speak at 2022 Friends of Sims Library Tea


Author David Armand will be the featured speaker this year for the annual Friends of Sims Library Marjorie Morrison Memorial Members’ Tea. The event will be held Saturday, April 9, at 2:00 pm in Sims Memorial Library, Southeastern Louisiana University.

David Armand is an assistant professor of creative writing, American Lit, and composition at Southeastern Louisiana University. In 2010, he won the George Garrett Fiction Prize for his first novel, The Pugilist’s Wife, which was published by Texas Review Press. He has written three more books, two collections of poetry, and a memoir. David lives in Hammond with his wife and children and is currently working on his next book, Mirrors. A selection of his books may be purchased at the event and a book signing will follow the Tea.

Guests will enjoy a variety of teas and a selection of delicious sandwiches and pastries. Unlimited mimosas will be available for $10 purchase, and a drawing will be held for door prizes.

The Tea is free to Friends of Sims Library members who have renewed their membership for 2022/2023. Those who renew at the Associate or Patron level may reserve one additional complimentary seat for a guest. Those at the Lifetime level may reserve a complimentary table for four. The cost for non-members is $25 which includes your Tea admission and individual membership for 2022/2023.

To guarantee seating for the Tea, checks must be received by Friday, April 1 and online reservations must be made by noon on Wednesday, April 6. Please make checks payable to Southeastern Foundation.
