Student Government Association President Erin Fernandez (center, in green) provides testimony on the importance of higher ed funding before the Appropriations Committee on ULS Day. Erin shared experiences from Southeastern students who are dealing with the uncertainty of TOPS funding.

In addition, students in Carrie Mercke's Social Work 402 class visited the Capitol the following week to participate in the annual National Association of Social Workers Advocacy Day. Students worked with advocates, learning about effective legislative advocacy, and spent the afternoon in committees, observing the legislature in action. The group even ran into a familiar face, Southeastern President Dr. John Crain!
