Five Southeastern students have been appointed ambassadors for the university’s experiential learning initiative, “Real World Ready.” The students, who all have completed at least one experiential learning opportunity, will promote the benefits and their personal experiences by speaking to student organizations, assisting with a future experiential learning conference and serving on a subcommittee for the initiative.

This year’s ambassadors are Caroline Pixberg, who is pursuing a degree in Middle School Education in the College of Education; Nisha Lama, who is studying Physics in the College of Science and Technology; Tony Miller, a senior Athletic Training major in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences; Rian Earnest, a History major in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; and Mikayla Shippy, who is pursuing a degree in Accounting in the College of Business.

By participating as ambassadors, the students will receive scholarships funded by the Office of Experiential Learning. “Real World Ready” is part of Southeastern’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) that is tied to the university’s application for reaccreditation by the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

The student ambassadors all have completed at least one experiential-learning opportunity at Southeastern, ranging from service learning to study abroad to internships. They also met additional scholarship application criteria, including having completed 30 credit hours, maintaining a GPA of 2.75 or higher and possessing a strong work ethic.
