Southeastern Leggworks presents 'Broadway Bound' April 27

BROADWAY BOUND -- Shaylyn Ducoing of Lafitte is one of six members of Southeastern Louisiana University’s Leggworks dance company who have choreographed works for “Broadway Bound,” the company’s spring concert. The concert is scheduled for April 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Vonnie Borden Theatre.

 

      HAMMOND – The dancers of Leggworks are “Broadway Bound” in their April 27 spring concert.

      The dance company, sponsored by Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Music and Dramatic Arts and directed by dance instructor Dana Brewer-Plazinic, will present the program of original jazz, hip hop and lyrical pieces, at 7:30 p.m. at Vonnie Borden Theatre in D Vickers Hall.

      The choreography was created by April Bardwell of Ponchatoula, Jennifer Buck of Harvey, Jarrod Cashe of Hammond, Shaylyn Ducoing of Lafitte, LaDasha Moll of Gonzales and Micah Richerand of Folsom.

      Brewer-Plazinic said some of the pieces contain mature language and material not suitable for younger audiences.

      Tickets for “Broadway Bound” are $4, general admission; $2, senior citizens and non-Southeastern students. Admission is free for Southeastern students.

      Dancers include two Southeastern alumni, Buck and Stacie Sabathe of Chalmette, and community members Brittni Barlow and Bridget Lyons, Ponchatoula; Amy Ferrara, Natalbany; Jerica Robinson and Lauren Thompson, Hammond; and Jodie Sandefur, Albany.

      Southeastern dancers are Shiloh Klein and Jonathan Davis, Hammond; Kerrin Sitman, Kentwood; Hannah Lambert and Kristal Ruckstuhl, Denham Springs; Elise McCann, Pearl River; Anderson Briggs, Jerard Ford, Lauren Landry, Brittney Lecoq, and Diamond Williams, Baton Rouge; Kristin Barber, Belle Chasse; Christina Blunt, New Orleans; Rebecca Collins, Chalmette; Trystin Williams, LaPlace; Lawrence Marley III and Wendy Tumblin, Kenner; Kristie Doyle, Harrahan; Kallie English, Metairie; Leslie Comeaux, Violet; Thurman Fields, DeRidder; Ericka Johnson, Destrehan; and LaKahyia Moll, Gonzales.
