“Individual Education Plans' are required by law for any student with special needs. To give teacher candidates at Southeastern Louisiana University crucial information on the detailed paperwork and legalities of IEPs, the College of Education and Human Development and the Kappa Delta Pi, an honors organization for education majors, recently sponsored their second annual "Mock IEP."  According to education professor Nicki Anselmo-Skelton, Southeastern is the only university that provides this important experience for its students. Madisonville Elementary teachers Kaycee Wood and Sarah Al-Juraid and Principal Lauren Spencer, all Southeastern graduates, demonstrated for the students the rolls that parents, teachers and administrators play in an IEP. From left, are Al-Juraid, Spencer, Wood and Southeastern student Rochelle Trabona of Slidell.
