(4) NEW ORLEANS STUDENT HONORED BY SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY – Jessica Stricks of New Orleans was among the award recipients at the Southeastern Louisiana University College of Science and Technology=s annual honors convocation April 24. Shown with Interim Dean Daniel McCarthy, Stricks, a biological sciences major, was the recipient of the Global Wildlife Endowed Scholarship in Biology.

(7) HARTFORD, S.D. STUDENT HONORED BY SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY – Tiffany Schriever of Hartford, S.D. was among the award recipients at the Southeastern Louisiana University College of Science and Technology=s annual honors convocation April 24. Shown with Interim Dean Daniel McCarthy, Schriever was the recipient of the Lisa Aucoin Scholarship in Herpetology.

 

      HAMMOND – Several outstanding students in Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Science and Technology were recognized for their performance at the college’s April 24 honors convocation.

      Named the outstanding graduating senior in biological sciences was Christoph Lundberg of Albany; William C. Snee of Baton Rouge was cited as outstanding graduating senior in chemistry; Paul Hirsch of Mandeville, the distinguished graduate in industrial technology; Brittany Owens of Hammond the distinguished graduate in computer science; and Sean O’Connell of Mandeville, the outstanding graduating senior in mathematics.

      Madeline Rogers of Baton Rouge received the award for distinguished graduate in the industrial technology associate degree program.

      At the ceremony held in the Student Union Theatre, the college also recognized as its outstanding alumnus Jim McClimans of Naples, Fla. McClimans earned bachelor=s degrees in mathematics and physics in 1958 and went on to a successful 36-year career in the area of oil exploration with Shell Oil Company. 

      McClimans, whose father Jay W. McClimans was the first head of the Department of Mathematics at Southeastern, served as manager of the deep water Gulf of Mexico Exploration Division and as director of Exploration Research, managing the daily activities of more than 150 employees. He managed explorations worldwide, working in areas such as Syria in the Middle East and Cameroon, Africa. He retired from Shell in 1993 and currently works as an oil and gas exploration consultant. McClimans’ award was accepted on his behalf by friend and fellow alumnus Sonny Chandler.

      The college also announced other departmental honors and scholarships. Students recognized included:

      ASCENSION PARISH – Anna Bass, Prairieville, president of the student section of the American Society of Safety Engineers.

      CADDO PARISH – Mindie Primm Rockett, Shreveport, a Southeastern graduate now attending LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport, the Major Kenneth E. Dyson Memorial Scholarship.

      EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH – Michael Cannatella, president of the American Design Drafting Association; Lisa Bourgeois, Don Jones/Greater Baton Rouge Chapter of American Society of Safety Engineers Scholarship; Michael Cannatella, president of the American Design Drafting Association; Jason Fried, president of the student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery; and Mathew Magnuson, Greenwell Springs, the Mark MacNutt Memorial Scholarship in Computer Science and president of the student chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon.

      LINCOLN PARISH – Damien Green, Ruston, the Lisa Aucoin Scholarship in Herpetology.

      LIVINGSTON PARISH – Brooke Sibley, Denham Springs, the Outstanding Freshman Award in Mathematics; and Joey Wade, Walker, the Joey Lewis Endowed Scholarship in Industrial Technology;

      ORLEANS PARISH – Jessica Stricks, the Global Wildlife Endowed Scholarship in Biology.

      ST. TAMMANY PARISH – Rose Corder, Slidell, the Theodore G. “Teddy” Betz Jr. Scholarship; Scott Hueschen, Lacombe, the Thomas A. Utsey Jr. Memorial Scholarship; Sean O’Connell, Mandeville, the Mark MacNutt Memorial Scholarship in Computer Science and the Robert Carl Brown Endowed Scholarship in Mathematics; and Kevin Sharpe, Covington, the Taylor Jeansonne Endowed Scholarship. Erica Sharpe of Covington, now a freshman at LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport, was recognized with the Major Kenneth E. Dyson Memorial Scholarship.

      TANGIPAHOA PARISH – Kayla Bates, Hammond, the Mark Dugopolski Sophomore Scholarship in Mathematics; Paul Blache, Hammond, the Trasie Jeansonne Endowed Scholarship; Richard Delong, Hammond, president of the National Association of Industrial Technology; John Fuselier, Hammond, the Walter Drott Scholarship; Brittany Owens, Hammond, the Mark MacNutt Memorial Scholarship in Computer Science; and Christopher Roundtree, Ponchatoula, president, American Welding Society
