Southeastern forum to feature black leaders on hurricane challenges

HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s celebration of February as Black History Month will conclude on Thursday, Feb. 23, with a forum featuring a trio of Louisiana black leaders discussing the challenges of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
The forum, sponsored by the Department of History and Political Sciences, is scheduled from 2-4 p.m. in Southeastern’s Student Union Theatre.
Panelists are Kim Hunter Reed, deputy chief of staff and policy director for Gov. Kathleen Blanco; Louisiana State Police Superintendent Henry Whitehorn, deputy secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections; and Donovan Hudson, general counsel for the office of Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu.
Each panelist will give a 20-minute presentation, followed by a question and answer session. The forum is free and open to the public.
