HAMMOND – A musical program by two players at two pianos will be presented by the husband and wife team of Kenneth Boulton and JoAnne Barry on Monday, Jan. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at Southeastern Louisiana University’s Pottle Music Building Auditorium.

Barry and Boulton, who is a member of the Southeastern piano faculty and director of the university’s Community Music School, have presented piano duet and duo concerts throughout the United States and Europe for the past 15 years. Highlights of their musical teamwork include appearances in England, Russia and Germany.

Enthusiastic advocates of piano ensemble playing, the pianists are in demand for their lecture-demonstrations of four-hand technique and repertoire, particularly works appropriate for students.

Their Southeastern program, which ushers in the Department of Music and Dramatic Arts “Encore!” spring concert series, encompasses selections from the 18th century to the present and from classical to rock. It includes works originally written for piano duo, including a concerto by the eldest son of Johann Sebastian Bach and a suite of four contemporary pieces by English composer Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, a song by German composer Franz Schubert, an impressionistic piece by French composer Lili Boulanger, and works by American jazz notables Bix Beiderbecke and George Gershwin.
