Biologist named review editor of international journal

       HAMMOND -- William F. Font, Southeastern Louisiana University professor of biological sciences, has been appointed a review editor for the international journal “Diseases of Aquatic Organisms.”

       An interdisciplinary publication based in Germany, “Diseases of Aquatic Organisms” is considered the leading international journal in its field, covering all aspects of disease phenomena in water-based life.

       Font is a leading expert on parasites in fish, having conducted extensive research in the state of Hawaii funded by the Hawaii Division of Aquatic Resources. He has developed information and data that helps support the state’s plan for conservation and management of threatened fish species and has served as an expert witness on behalf of several conservation organizations, testifying before Hawaii's Water Commission.

       The recipient of Southeastern’s President’s Award for Excellence in Research, he also serves as associate editor for “The Journal of Parasitology” and is a member of the editorial board for “Comparative Parasitology.”
