HAMMOND – The first 1,000 Southeastern Louisiana University alumni, friends and students attending the Lions vs. Northwestern State Demons basketball game at the University Center on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 21, will be treated to a free barbecue, compliments of the Alumni Association and Division of Student Affairs.

Alumni Director Kathy Pittman said alumni and community fans can obtain barbecue tickets by showing their game tickets at the Alumni Association tent, which will be located at the University Center’s Gate 3. Students can obtain lunch tickets at the Gate 3 student entrance.

The lunch of hamburgers, baked potatoes, dessert and beverages will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

The Lions will tip off against Southland Conference foe Northwestern at 1 p.m. in a match that will be televised live on Fox Sports Southwest.

“Alumni and friends will be provided a special area in the University Center where they can enjoy the lunch and mingle prior to the game. Children are welcome,” Pittman said. “Come be on TV, wear your green and gold and show your Southeastern spirit.”

Pittman said alumni and friends should call the Alumni Association, 985-549-2150 to ensure lunch reservations.

As part of the “Jam the Jungle” student activities also associated with the Lions and Lady Lions games, the first 1,000 Southeastern students will receive a free t-shirt and a variety of games and prizes.

Fans can also stay for the 3 p.m. Lady Lions vs. Tulane game, which is also “FE-Lions Day.” FE-Lions members can pick up their tickets at Gate 3.
