Williams is president-elect of international organization

       HAMMOND -- June Williams, an assistant professor in the Southeastern Louisiana University Department of Counseling and Human Development, has been elected president elect of Chi Sigma Iota, an international honor society of counseling and academic professionals.
       She will assume the position in July. The organization of more than 10,000 active members promotes scholarship, research, professionalism and leadership in counseling and recognizes outstanding academic achievement and service within the counseling profession.
       A licensed professional counselor, Williams came to Southeastern in 1995 as assistant director of the university’s counseling center. She served as assistant dean of student life until her appointment as an assistant professor in the College of Education and Human Development.
       Williams holds a doctorate in counselor education from the University of New Orleans. A member of numerous professional organizations, she is the current president of the American College Counseling Association and the Louisiana College Counseling Association.
