Southeastern Phi Beta Lambda members win at state conference

       HAMMOND – Members of Southeastern Louisiana University’s chapter of  Phi Beta Lambda were winners in business-related competitions at the recent Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference.

       The annual conference was held March 10 in Alexandria, said PBL sponsor Leigh Smith of the Southeastern Department of General Business.

       As first and second place winners, the students are now eligible to compete at the Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference in July in Nashville, Tenn.

       First place winners were Jeffery Banquer of Abita Springs, finance and economics; Diamond Gatlin of  Foxwork, Miss., international business and statistical analysis; Diana Canatella of Hammond, marketing and management; and Lynsey Huval of Covington, word processing.

       Josh Pelous of Kentwood placed second in economics and computer concepts, while Chris Seaux of Duson also took second place honors in marketing. PBL member Brittany King of Wesson, Miss., also attended the conference.

       Phi Beta Lambda is the national business education association that prepares students for careers in business and business education. Its members, belonging to more than 6,000 chartered chapters, include students from the United States, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Europe.
