At its annual Awards Evening on Oct. 27, the Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association presented a pair of awards to distinguished graduates. Annabelle Armstrong of Baton Rouge was recognized with the Distinguished Service Award for her work with the Red Stick Alumni Chapter and other alumni activities. Armstrong worked as a reporter for the Baton Rouge Advocate and State-Times and currently writes for “La Vie” magazine. Michelle Bates of Hammond received the L.E. Chandler Award, which is given to an individual who has assisted the university and its students in their extracurricular activities. Bates is currently an instructor in the Division of General Studies and has worked at Southeastern as assistant director of recreational sports and wellness. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southeastern.
