HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University Department of Foreign Languages will host an international extravaganza, Nov. 13, from 5-7:30 p.m., in the War Memorial Student Union ballroom.

The extravaganza is part of the International Education Week, which recognizes international education and exchange.

“Displays by the Turkish student organization, foreign language clubs (French, German, Italian, Latin, French, Spanish), dance ensembles, a talent show with musical selections performed by students, professors, and former professors, and an international buffet will be featured,” said Aileen Mootoo of the Department of Foreign Language and Literature.

Cost to attend the international extravaganza is $5.

“International Education Week is a week-long celebration of everything international at Southeastern,” said Eric Summers, director of Multicultural & International Student Affairs. “It’s a time to recognize the global exchange environment between the United States and other countries.”

Summers said celebrations will be held across the country in schools, colleges and universities, embassies, international organizations, businesses, associations, and community organizations.

“The events are designed to promote internationalism in hopes that our students will become global citizens and to help our foreign students feel welcome at our university,” said Summers.
