Students invited to info session on 2007 study abroad programs

     HAMMOND – Students can learn about Southeastern Louisiana University’s 12 study abroad programs at a special “info session” Nov. 15.

     The session is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Fayard Hall, room 107, said Charles A. Dranguet Jr., interim director of the International Initiatives Office.

     Dranguet said faculty members coordinating each program will be available to provide information and answer questions. Free pizza and soft drinks will be served.

     Applications are now being accepted for 2007 study abroad programs in Costa Rica, Austria, Spain, Ecuador, France, Honduras, Italy and Germany. The application deadline is Feb. 28, 2007, but Dranguet said students should apply as early as possible.

     Financial aid can be applied to study abroad expenses and 90 Student Government Association study abroad scholarships are also available. Dec. 8 is the deadline to apply for the SGA scholarship.

     Through the summer programs, students can earn up to six academic credits studying business, sociology, criminal justice and tropical ecology in Costa Rica; nursing in Honduras; Italian language and English literature in Italy; German language, culture and music in Cologne; Spanish language, history and political science in Valencia, Spain; French language and culture, and biology in La Douce, France; Spanish, sociology, anthropology and biology in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands; and political science and history in Salzburg, Austria.
