SOUTHEASTERN CHANNEL SHOW SPOTLIGHTS INDIE MUSIC VIDEOS – Southeastern Louisiana University student Tim Tregle is the host of a new Southeastern Channel show,  “INDI-Visual,” which will air on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 p.m. beginning Nov. 2. The show, produced by Southeastern students, features never-before-seen videos from indie bands from around the world, such as "We Are Your Friends" by the group "Justice vs. Simien."

HAMMOND – “INDI-Visual,” a new music video program featuring independent videos from all over the world, will begin airing Nov. 2 on the Southeastern Channel, Southeastern Louisiana University’s educational access channel on Charter Cable Channel 18.

The new student-produced program will air on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 p.m., Fridays at 10:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.

“INDI-Visual is a creative addition to our growing number of student-produced programs which should appeal to our younger viewers,” said Rick Settoon, general manager of the Southeastern Channel.

The program is produced, written and hosted by Southeastern student Tim Tregle, a junior marketing major from New Orleans, and directed and edited by Nick Brilleaux, a freshman communication major from Hammond.  The supervising producer is Steve Zaffuto, the channel’s operations manager.

“Except for online resources, music videos for independent or ‘fringe’ artists receive little exposure in the general media,” Zaffuto said.  “INDI-Visual is an attempt to showcase some of these clips not simply as promotional material, but also as contemporary examples of some very inventive digital filmmaking.”

Tregle said that INDI-Visual has received videos from indie groups all over the world looking for airplay.

“Up-and-coming indie bands are the new age of music,” said Tregle. “We’re giving air time to unknowns that are trying to make it under the radar in the music industry.”

Brilleaux said that it’s not easy for independent artists and amateur bands to showcase their work on television.

“This also gives the public a chance to watch videos from around the world that they wouldn’t be able to view anywhere else,” he said.

The Emmy award-winning Southeastern Channel can be seen on Charter Cable Channel 18 in Tangipahoa, St. Tammany and Livingston Parishes and on Channel 17 in Washington Parish.  It can also be viewed online at www.selu.edu/tv.
