Alumnus exhibits at Homecoming art show

St. Tammany artist and Southeastern Louisiana University graduate Luz Maria Lopez (second from left) is shown Tuesday (Oct. 24) with one of her works that was exhibited at the university’s Sims Memorial Library as part of Homecoming week. Lopez, a native of Honduras whose work started as a simple hobby and grew into a full time profession, graduated from Southeastern in 1995 after working for years in the St. Tammany Parish Library. Her art is mostly acrylic and mixed media and frequently taps into stories told to her by her grandmother in Honduras. With her are the show’s coordinators Carolyn and Roy Blackwood.
