HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University is inviting the community to show off its Lion pride on game days this fall.
Area businesses have the opportunity to purchase green and gold t-shirts for employees at a special rate of $4 per shirt. They are asked to don the Southeastern shirts in conjunction with home football games.
“Southeastern is blessed to be surrounded by such a dynamic college town environment,” said Southeastern Athletic Director Joel Erdmann. “This is an opportunity to really showcase the Hammond community and show off our Lion pride!”
The shirts are green with the gold legend “Go Green! Go Gold! Go Lions!” With 1,000 shirts available, orders will be filled on a first come, first served basis in sizes small through double extra large. A limited number of green and gold Lions house flags are also available for $17 each.
Erdmann also said that a select number of free tailgating locations remain available in Friendship Circle. Tailgaters will enjoy the Spirit of the Southland Band pre-game warm-ups in the circle and the “Lion Walk” of football players, which will take place two hours prior to kick-off. Erdmann added that a River Bell gumbo cook-off is planned during tailgating when the Lions take on Nicholls State on Nov. 17.
Home games in October include the Lions vs. Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 6 and vs. Central Arkansas on Oct. 20. Homecoming will follow on Nov. 10 against Sam Houston State.
To reserve a tailgating spot or purchase season tickets, call (985) 549-5299 or visit www.LionSports.net/tickets.html to download an order form or purchase tickets online. Individual home game tickets will be available soon.
