HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is accepting applications for its scholarship, designed to benefit an undergraduate member of the chapter.
Students have until April 11 to apply. The recipient will be announced at the chapter’s annual banquet on May 1.
To qualify for the $250 per semester scholarship, an applicant must be an active Phi Kappa Phi member who is a undergraduate student at the time of selection and during the semesters he or she receives the scholarship. The applicant must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average and be “of moral character that exemplifies the spirit and intent of Phi Kappa Phi.”
Recipients, who will be chosen by a scholarship selection committee, can retain the scholarship for two semesters of undergraduate study at Southeastern if they continue to meet the selection criteria.
An application form is available on the Southeastern Phi Kappa Phi web site, www.selu.edu/phikappaphi.
The national Phi Kappa Phi office, located in Baton Rouge, is also offering a number of scholarships and grants to members and non-members. Among the awards offered are 50 $1,000 Study Abroad Grants, Feb. 18 application deadline; 50 $500 “Love of Learning Awards” for post-baccalaureate studies or career development for active Phi Kappa Phi members, June 30 application deadline; and 60 $250 “Emerging Scholar Awards” for sophomores at Phi Kappa Phi member institutions, July 14 application deadline.
