HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University is inviting members of the community to join its faculty and staff in saying farewell to former President Randy Moffett and thanking him for his leadership and vision at an open reception planned Monday (July 28) from 3 – 5 p.m.
Moffett, who has been appointed president of the University of Louisiana System, will be honored at the reception which will be held at Twelve Oaks on the campus.
“Many people in our area have expressed a desire to say farewell to Dr. Moffett, who has been such a strong advocate for university-community partnerships,” said Interim President John L. Crain. “This is an opportunity for the general public to join the Southeastern family in extending their best wishes to him and Barbara as they move to Baton Rouge.”
Moffett, who has been at Southeastern for 32 years, served as Southeastern’s president since 2001. He has held a variety of positions, including provost and vice president for academic affairs, vice president for planning, research and development, dean and professor in the College of Education, head of the Department of Education, and director of Continuing Education and Special Activities.
In his new capacity, Moffett works with the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors, the governing body of Southeastern and seven other regional universities.
