HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University Small Business Development Center is hosting a north shore business conference on “National Strategies for a Changing Economy.” Additional sponsors of the conference include the Louisiana Small Business Development Center, I-12 Alliance, and St. Tammany East and West Chambers of Commerce.
Scheduled for Sept. 25 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Northshore Harbor Center in Slidell, the conference features national speakers on topics such as increasing profits and sales, growing business and finding capital, and streamlining operations.
“We have a wonderful group of speakers from across the country,” said Sandy Summers, SBDC assistant director. “Representatives from VSN Strategies, Rider & Associates, iFranchise Group, and First National Bankers Bank will be on hand to lend their expertise to participants.”
Attendees will be welcomed by opening remarks from Southeastern Interim President John L. Crain and William Joubert, director of the university’s Southeast Louisiana Business Center.
The morning keynote address will focus on how businesses can prosper in the next economy. A discussion on supply chain management, the combination of the fields of marketing, production, and operations management and information systems, will follow.
James Lemoine, author of “Define Your Business,” will give the luncheon address and discuss “five and a half things businesses don’t understand but could make money if they did.”
The afternoon sessions will offer information on how to grow businesses into successful franchises, as well as a discussion on accessing business capital.
Registration for the conference is $30 and includes breakfast and lunch. Registration is available online at selu.edu/sbdc or at 985-549-3831.
