35 Regional establishments to participate in Chefs Evening

     HAMMOND –  Tickets are still available for Southeastern Louisiana University’s Chefs Evening on Sunday (March 14) when more than 35 area establishments will be offering guests samplings of fine cuisine and beverages.

     The staff of the Southeastern Development Foundation and its army of volunteers are completing the last minute touches for the weekend event that supports academic programs at the university. Chefs Evening will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Pennington Student Activity Center, located at University Avenue and General Pershing Avenue. 

     In addition to the cuisine and drink offered by a wide array of restaurants and beverage vendors, the event will feature the raffle of a diamond-encrusted fleur de lis pendant necklace donated by George and Yvone Ibert of Ibert Jewelers. The popular silent auction will have a variety of items donated by businesses, including a limited edition George Rodrigue Blue Dog print entitled “Drew Brees.” Also, Dennis Sipiorski, head of the Department of Visual Arts, will be painting two pieces of art “live” during the event to add an extra air of excitement.

     Individual tickets are $50 and may be purchased by calling the Southeastern Development Foundation at 985-549-5544 or on-line at www.selu.edu/chefsevening. Reserved tables of six are also available. Lion Traxx shuttle buses and golf carts will be available to transport attendees to and from parking areas at the Alumni Center, University Center and Teacher Education Center parking areas.
