HAMMOND – Two staff members at the Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana University have been recognized with awards for stellar assistance to clients.
Center Director William Joubert was the sole recipient of the “Five Million Dollar Club” award at the state’s Small Business Development Center awards reception held recently in Lafayette. The award recognized his efforts in helping to secure more than $5 million in client capitalization.
Joubert has been a part of the LSBDC network for more than 15 years. He also directs the university’s Southeast Louisiana Business Center, a one-stop shop designed to attract new business to the area and assist existing businesses in expansion efforts. Joubert is actively involved in working with area economic development agencies.
Consultant Wayne Ricks received the “One Million Dollar Club” award for helping area businesses receive more than a million dollars in capitalization. A previous recipient of the Five Million Dollar Club award, he was also recognized for developing a document management system last year that is now being adopted by centers statewide. The system assists consultants in the network in more thoroughly assessing client needs. At the LSBDC, Ricks works with start up businesses and existing business owners, focusing on individual consulting, assisting clients in creating financial projections and performing industry research.
The LSBDC provides tools and resources necessary to help businesses grow and compete in a challenging economy. The center offers free consulting and affordable training seminars designed to help businesses attract customers, improve operations, increase sales and successfully access capital.
