LSBDC to co-sponsor small business outreach event

HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana University is sponsoring a small business outreach event on June 17 for businesses interested in future contracting opportunities with Bechtel National, Inc.

Co-sponsored by Louisiana Small Business Administration and Louisiana Procurement Technical Assistance Center (LA PTAC), the free program will take place in Covington in the Greater Covington Center, Bogue Falaya Hall, located at 317 N. Jefferson Ave. from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Privately owned with headquarters in San Francisco, Bechtel has offices around the world with more than 53,000 employees. Bechtel is considered one the world's top firms for engineering, construction, and project management.

Assistant Director of the Small Business Development Center Sandy Summers said local small businesses are being sought for the following types of services: light construction – including electrical and framing offices, mechanical/HVAC, industrial plumbing, grounds keeping/maintenance, pest control services, custodial services, food services, and lab testing services.

"Bechtel's Small Business Program Manager, Lisa Tribuce-Leoung Tat, will present an overview of Bechtel's Small Business Program," Summers said. "Additionally, Cindy Carrier with the Louisiana PTAC will present a training session on preparing a responsive proposal.'"

Founded in 1898, Bechtel has worked on more than 25,000 projects in 160 countries on all seven continents. Today, their 53,000 colleagues join with customers, partners, and suppliers on hundreds of diverse projects in nearly 40 countries.
