HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Arts, Humanities and
Social Sciences honored top graduates at its annual honors convocation April 29.
Departmental awards and scholarships were presented to the following:
BATON ROUGE – Victoria Hudson, D Vickers Award in Creative Writing.
COVINGTON – Marissa Akeroyd, Martina Buck Award in History.
ETHEL – Rachel Sevier, Outstanding Senior in Studio Art; Jennifer Jarreau, Outstanding
Graduate in General Studies; Christopher Gwynn, Outstanding Graduating Senior in Criminal
Justice.
FOLSOM – Dakota King, Harold Leu Award in Political Science.
HAMMOND – Jessica Mina, Beverly Marshall Award in Creative Writing; Natalia Timotin,
Ralph R. Pottle Sr. Honor Scholarship; Kayla Hill, Outstanding Graduate in General
Studies; Deanna Robertson, Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Psychology.
HOUMA – Chase Ledet, James Wilcox Award in Music.
KENTWOOD – Jacob Miller, Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Spanish; Emily
Dykes, Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Criminal Justice.
MANDEVILLE – Cody Love, Outstanding Senior in English - Creative Writing.
MARRERO – Lindsey Gros, Outstanding Graduating Senior in Communication.
NEW ORLEANS – Dylan Cruz, Outstanding Senior in Studio Art.
PONCHATOULA – Sarah Basile, F. Dale Parent Outstanding Graduating Senior Award
in Sociology.
SLIDELL – Rebekah Grommon and Jessica Berry, Outstanding Senior in English -Language
& Literature; Mary Maude Cusimano, Outstanding Senior in Art History.
SPRINGFIELD – Eleanor Kamrath, Director’s Award for Academic Excellence.
BONAIRE, GEORGIA – Rosa-Lee Marino, Outstanding Senior in Graphic Design.
Also at the convocation, the college honored three faculty members with awards.
Recognized were Paula Varnado-Sullivan, Excellence in Teaching; Philip Schuessler,
Excellence in Artistic Activity; and Roy Blackwood, Excellence in Service.
The college honored inductees into the Southeastern chapter of Phi Kappa Phi national
honor society, the university’s honor society the Thirteen Club, and students on the
President’s List, Dean’s List, and Honor Roll.

1) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS (FACULTY) – At its honors convocation April 29, Southeastern Louisiana University’s College
of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences honored several faculty members for excellence.

2) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS (Ascension) – Southeastern Louisiana University student Victoria Hudson, left, of Baton Rouge
was honored at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ April 29 honors
convocation. Hudson received the D Vickers Award in Creative Writing. Congratulating
her is Dean Karen Fontenot.
3) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS (E. Feliciana) -- Southeastern Louisiana University student Rachel Sevier, left, from Ethel was
honored at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ April 29 honors convocation.
Sevier received the Outstanding Senior in Studio Art award. Congratulating her is
Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Karen Fontenot.
4) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS (Jefferson) - Southeastern Louisiana University student Lindsey Gros, left, of Marrero was honored
at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ April 29 honors convocation.
Gros received the Outstanding Graduating Senior in Communication award. Congratulating
her is Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Karen Fontenot.
5) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS (Livingston) -- Southeastern Louisiana University student Kayla Hill, left, from Springfield was
honored at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ April 29 honors convocation.
Hill received the Outstanding Graduate in General Studies award. Congratulating her
is Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Karen Fontenot.
6) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS (Orleans) – Southeastern Louisiana University student Dylan Cruz of New Orleans, left, was
among the award winners at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ April
29 honors convocation. Cruz received the Outstanding Senior in Studio Art award. Congratulating
her is Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Karen Fontenot.
7) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS (St. Tammany) -- Southeastern Louisiana University students from St. Tammany Parish who were honored
at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ April 29 honors convocation
were, from left, Rebekah Grommon, Outstanding Senior in English (Language & Literature),
and Mary Maude Cusimano, Outstanding Senior in Art History, both of Slidell; Rosa-Lee
Marino of Bonaire, Ga., Outstanding Senior in Graphic Design; Marissa Akeroyd of Covington,
Martina Buck Award in History; and Dakota King of Folsom, Harold Leu Award in Political
Science.
8) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS (St. Tammany) - Southeastern Louisiana University student Cody Love, left, of Mandeville was honored
at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ April 29 honors convocation.
Gros received the Outstanding Graduating Senior in Communication award. Congratulating
him is Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Karen Fontenot.
9) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS (Tangipahoa) –Southeastern Louisiana University students from Tangipahoa Parish who were honored
at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ April 29 honors convocation
were, from left, Eleanor Kamrath of Springfield, Director’s Award for Academic Excellence;
Emily Dykes of Kentwood, Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Criminal Justice;
Deanna Robertson of Hammond, Outstanding Graduating Senior in Psychology; and Sarah

among the award winners at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ April
29 honors convocation. Ledet received the James Wilcox Award in Music. Congratulating
him is Dean Karen Fontenot.
