HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Arts, Humanities and
Social Sciences honored top graduates at its annual honors convocation April 26.
Departmental awards were presented to the following:
BOUTTE – Briana Brown, Outstanding Senior in English (Creative Writing).
COVINGTON – Mina Perkins, Theatre Design Award; and Christine Weber, James Wilcox
Outstanding Graduating Music Major.
DENHAM SPRINGS – Diana Lopez McMenis, Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in
World Languages (Spanish).
FOLSOM – Alexandria Funches, Outstanding Senior Award in General Studies.
HAMMOND – Nele Gudermann, Outstanding Senior Award in Psychology; Andrew Loyacano,
Art History Scholar Award; Aileigh Simmons, Fine Arts Award.
HOLDEN – Kyleigh Cobb, Director’s Award in General Studies.
LACOMBE – Sable Diaz, The Theatre Acting Award.
LAROSE – Morgan Guidry, Outstanding Senior Award in Communications.
LORANGER – Ricky Lips, Martina Buck Award in History.
MADISONVILLE – Emyia Renee Woods, F. Dale Parent Outstanding Graduating Senior
Award in Sociology.
MANDEVILLE – Fajr Fayed, Harold Leu Award in Political Science; Danielle Wick,
Fine Arts Award.
POLLOCK – Sam Tarpley,Outstanding Senior in English (Language and Literature).
PONCHATOULA – Carsyn Avegno, Outstanding Student in Theatre; Emma Grace Landry,
Marc P. Ridel Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Criminal Justice; and Martha
Wilson, Graphic Design Award.
PRAIRIEVILLE – Samuel Douzart, Roman Heleniak Award in Social Studies Education.
SLIDELL – Breana McManus, Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in World Languages
(Dual Language); and Dalyn Wilson, D Vickers Award in Creative Writing.
Also at the convocation, the college honored two faculty members with awards.
Recognized were Leilya Pitre, Excellence in Teaching; and Jeffrey Bell, Excellence
in Research.
CUTLINES
1) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS (GRANT) – Southeastern Louisiana University student Sam Tarpley of Pollock was honored at
the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ April 26 honors convocation.
Tarpley received the Outstanding Senior in English Award (Language and Literature).
2) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS – (Lafourche) - Southeastern Louisiana University student Morgan Guidry of Larose was honored at
the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ honors convocation. Guidry received
the Outstanding Senior Award in Communication.
3) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS – (Livingston) – Southeastern Louisiana University student Diana McMenis from Denham Springs was
honored recently at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ honors convocation.
McMenis received the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in World Languages (Spanish).
4) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS (St. Charles) – Southeastern Louisiana University student Briana Brown of Boutte, was honored recently
at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ honors convocation. Brown
received the Outstanding Senior in English Award (Creative Writing).
5) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS (St. Tammany) – Southeastern Louisiana University students from St. Tammany Parish who were honored
at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ honors convocation were, from
left, Dalyn Wilson of Slidell, D Vickers Award in Creative Writing; Breana McManus
of Slidell, Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in World Languages (Dual Language);
Danielle Wick of Mandeville, Fine Arts Award; Sable Diaz of Lacombe, The Theatre Acting
Award; and Mina Perkins of Covington, Theatre Design Award.
6) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS (Tangipahoa - Livingston) –Southeastern Louisiana University students from Tangipahoa and Livingston parishes
who were honored recently at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’
honors convocation were, from left, Kyleigh Cobb of Holden, Director’s Award in General
Studies; Aileigh Simmons of Hammond, Fine Arts Award; Andrew Loyacano of Hammond,
Art History Scholar Award; Carsyn Avegno of Ponchatoula, Outstanding Student in Theatre;
Nele Gudermann of Hammond, Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Psychology; and
Ricky Lips of Loranger, Martina Buck Award in History.
