Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies

The Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education Grades K-12 fulfills Louisiana requirements for teacher certification in both health and physical education (K-12). Graduation requirements include a 2.5 GPA and earning a grade of "C" or better in all major courses plus courses in mathematics, English, and the sciences. Students must also earn passing scores on teacher licensure exams (PRAXIS), participate in a group interview screening process, complete a professional portfolio, and meet other requirements of the University's teacher education program described in the College of Education section of this catalog.
Students majoring in degrees in the Kinesiology and Health Studies Department may be required to participate in a drug screening program and/ or submit information for criminal background checks as part clinical/ internship requirements.
