University Police Staff
Meet the Director of University Police
Director Harold Todd began his career in law enforcement as a Louisiana State Trooper in 1974. His State Police law enforcement career ranged from uniform criminal patrol and as a narcotics investigation with extensive undercover experience.
In 1994, Todd moved to the Southeastern Louisiana University Police Department and promoted through the ranks to Police Captain. He worked within the Department to implement the University’s first bicycle patrol and the “Rape Aggression Defense” (RAD) training program.
In 2004, Todd was appointed Chief of Police for the Northern Kentucky University Police Department. He collaborated with local law enforcement agencies and expanded their “Volunteer in Police Service” to include the NKU Police Department. He also implemented the University’s first “Citizens Police Academy” that created partnerships within the University as well as the local community. He worked to have the NKU police department accredited with the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
In 2012, Todd accepted the position of Chief of Police for Texas A&M University-Central Texas. His first task was to create the University’s first Police Department and Parking Enforcement Division. Under his supervision the new department was established, the first officers hired, equipment purchased and a community policing philosophy instituted.
In 2014 when the opportunity became available, he accepted the offer to return to his roots at Southeastern Louisiana University as the Director of University Police. He hopes to bring his 40+ years of law enforcement experience to the campus and lead the department through the many changes that are taking place at the University.
Chief Todd possesses a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science from Southeastern Louisiana University and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Alabama. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
