Audrey C. and Harry J. Gabriel Endowed Scholarship in Business 
The scholarship  was created by the sons of Harry and his wife Audrey Gabriel ‘49,
Bob and Harry.  The Gabriel family of Ponchatoula, are owners and operators of  Gabriel
Building Supply Company. This scholarship provides financial assistance for a student
majoring in Business.

Sharon Ann Gabriel Scholarship in Nursing 
Sharon Ann Gabriel was a graduate of Southeastern’s School of Nursing class of ‘74.
She was a Registered Nurse for 39 years, and served as Director of Nurses at Hood
Memorial Hospital for 37 years.  The scholarship was established by her mother, Shirley
Guitrau Gabriel and sister Suzie Gabriel Saint along with friends and family. The
scholarship was endowed to provide assistance to a student in clinical nursing courses.

Sylvia A. Gaffney Endowed Scholarship 
Sylvia A. Gaffney met Gerald J. Gaffney while they were attending Southeastern in
1952 and were married in 1954.  After having four children, Sylvia received her degree
and became a full time educator.  She loved teaching in elementary school and went
back and received her Master’s degree and became the Principal at Immaculate Heart
of Mary in New Orleans.  Sylvia thought education was the solution to many of the
problems people face, and she had a special place in her heart for the underprivileged.
Coordinated with their son Steve, Gerald established this legacy scholarship for students
studying to become teachers.

Jim and Nancy Gainey Endowed Scholarship in Elementary Education 
The scholarship was established to provide financial support to a Southeastern student
majoring in Elementary Education. The scholarship recognizes Nancy Stire Gainey, a
1972 Southeastern graduate and educator.

Rodney C. Galatas Endowed Scholarship 
Rodney Galatas ‘76 was a charter member of Alpha Phi Alpha and Delta Sigma Pi and
served as treasurer of the Student Government Association. He had an impressive twenty-eight
year career with ExxonMobil Corporationin various accounting, financial, supervisory
and managerial assignments in New Orleans, Houston and overseas. He and his wife Marcia
King Galatas ’79 met at Southeastern. Marcia, a member of the Southeastern Foundation
Board of Directors and her husband, established this scholarship for students majoring
in accounting or finance.

Margie Himel Galloway Scholarships for the Arts
The fund was established by Bill and Noel Galloway Wade to honor her mother, Margie
Galloway ‘41 and is to support scholarships for students in the arts. 

Thomas & Marilyn Galloway Endowed Scholarship (Football) 
The scholarship was established by Thomas “Tag” Galloway and his wife Marilyn. Tag
is the son of former Lion player and coach, Stan Galloway ‘39 and it supports a Southeastern
athlete who plays football. 

Guy C. Garrison Endowed Scholarship 
The scholarship was established in 1990 by Mrs. Olivette Wilson Garrison, a native
of Amite, Louisiana whose father, Harry D. Wilson, was state Commissioner of Agriculture
and for whom Southeastern’s former Agriculture building was named.  Mrs. Garrison
and her husband valued higher education. The scholarship is named in her husband’s
memory  and is for a student with an active status in the honors program. 

Suzanne Gautier Endowment for Children’s Programming (Columbia Theatre) 
The endowment was established by Jack and Sue Gautier and recognizes Suzanne’s passion
for theatre and engaging children in the arts.

The Jack and Suzanne Gautier Alternative Certification Education Scholarship 
Jack and Sue Gautier ‘79 established the scholarship to provide financial assistance
to a Southeastern student holding a degree who is seeking to qualify for state teacher
certification.  Sue obtained an undergraduate degree in medical technology and later
obtained an alternate certification to teach science. Jack is a former Southeastern
football player who  retired from a long  career in banking and is a member of the
Southeastern Foundation Board of Directors.

Myra C. Gautreaux Memorial Scholarship 
The scholarship was endowed by the West St. Tammany Medical Auxiliary to assist a
nursing major from West St. Tammany Parish with a demonstrated need. Myra Gautreaux
was the wife of one of the area’s pioneering doctors. 

Antimony L. Gerhardt Endowed Scholarship in Mathematics 
The scholarship was endowed by the parents of Antimony Gerhardt, a graduate of Hammond
High School.  Antimony received her Bachelor of Science degree from MIT in 2000 and
was enrolled in the MIT Masters degree program in electrical engineering and computer
science at the time of her passing.  The scholarship was established by her parents,
Kent and Gwendolyn Gerhardt, in memory and celebration of their daughter and benefits
a Southeastern student majoring in Mathematics. 

Eugene “Gene” Ghoram Endowed Scholarship in Men’s Basketball 
The scholarship was established by John Manzella ‘63 to honor his friend Gene.  It
benefits a member of Southeastern men’s basketball team with a preference for one
from Zachary High School. 

Samuel Giglio IV Endowed Scholarship 
Samuel Giglio IV received his B.S. degree in chemistry posthumously in May 2020 having
passed away five weeks before graduating.  Sam had already earned minors in mathematics
and computer science. Friends and family established this scholarship for chemistry
or physics majors who have achieved the 8-credit introductory sequence and who are
active in chemistry and physics undergraduate student clubs and in the department
community in general.

Joseph Thomas Gill and Odile Chustz Gill Endowed Scholarship in Nursing 
Mrs. Odile Chustz Gill retired from Southeastern in 1976 as Professor Emeritus of
Library Science. She also worked as the Librarian at the Southeastern Lab School.
The scholarship provides financial support to a student majoring in Nursing.

Global Wildlife Endowed Scholarship in Biology 
The scholarship was established by Ken Matherne, owner of Global Wildlife Center in
Folsom, Louisiana to assist a student majoring in Biology.  Global Wildlife Center
was established to provide education about wildlife, conservation and endangered species.   

Golden Voices from 1927-1948 Endowed Scholarship 
The scholarship was established by a group of 50 year graduates to assist a Southeastern
student.

Christine Marie Gonzales Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Business 
The scholarship was established by Sharon Gonzales in memory of her daughter.  Christine
was  a Senior at Southeastern on the Dean’s list at the time of her passing. The scholarship
provides financial support to a deserving College of Business student. 

Sandy Goodwin Memorial Scholarship Fund (Baseball) 
Sandy was a member of the staff of Southeastern for more than 25 years and spent most
of that time in the Leadership Development and Student Activities offices.  She was
a passionate supporter of the University, always known to help with campus, athletic
and alumni events. The scholarship, established by family and friends, benefits a
Southeastern student athlete, preferably a baseball player. 

Gray Family Endowed Scholarship 
The scholarship was established by David Bert Gray ‘68 and his wife Victoria Gray.
The scholarship supports a student that is within one year of graduation. 

Greater Baton Rouge American Society of Safety Engineers Endowed Scholarship 
The scholarship was established in 2014 with a gift from the Greater Baton Rouge American
Society of Safety Engineers to provide financial assistance to a Southeastern student
majoring in Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment.

Freda O. Green Endowed Scholarship in Business 
The scholarship was established by Southeastern supporter and fan, Freda Green, to
provide financial assistance to a hardworking freshman female student majoring in
Business. Freda Green, was a native of New Orleans who later moved to Tangipahoa Parish
where she became very active in community organizations. She was a charter member
of the FeLions (Female Enthusiasts for Lion Sports), and inspired the Bunko for Basketball
fundraiser for Women’s Basketball at Southeastern. She also served on the President’s
Board of Advisors.

Dr. Bertram H. Groene Endowed Scholarship in History 
Professor Emeritus of History and Political Science, Dr. Bertram H. Groene established
this scholarship through his estate for students studying history.

Guidry Family Endowment Scholarship in Social Work 
This scholarship was established by Paul Guidry, a ‘77 graduate in Accounting.  Paul
had a special place in his heart for helping individuals with social and other disabilities. 
This scholarship provides  financial assistance to a deserving student majoring in
Social Work.

Gulf States Health Services Endowed Scholarship in Nursing 
The scholarship was established by Gulf States LTAC of Hammond, a division of Gulf
States Health Systems, Inc., a provider of acute in-patient rehabilitation and long
term care hospitals.  It  provides financial assistance to a Nursing Student who is
a Louisiana resident.
