Mary Ann Farris of Hammond (right), an administrative coordinator in Southeastern Louisiana University Admissions and Financial Aid, lights the candle of her niece Haley Fisher at the university’s annual Golden Silence ceremony held on the campus on Thursday afternoon (April 1). The annual ceremony honors those members of the Southeastern family – alumni, faculty, staff and students – who died over the past year. Farris and her family were commemorating the memory of her brother Pete Farris.
