     HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University Assistant Professor of Nursing Lucie J. Agosta of Baton Rouge has been appointed by Governor Bobby Jindal to the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.

     The board consists of 11 gubernatorial appointments and is charged with ensuring that individuals practicing as registered nurses and advanced practice registered nurses meet specific training requirements and licensure.

     Agosta serves as coordinator of the adult health nurse practitioner specialty track in Southeastern’s School of Nursing graduate program. A recipient of  a Nightingale Award from the Louisiana Nurses Foundation as Advance Practice Nurse of the Year, she was honored this year with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners State Award for Excellence. She also received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners in 2007
