The first 200 students will receive t-shirts courtesy of the Southeastern Student Government Association, Campus Activities Board and the CLAWS (Connecting Lion Activities With Students) Committee. Free food and drinks will be also be available.
Students will also have the opportunity to register for several prizes including an iPod, Southeastern apparel and a chance to sit on the team bench with the Lions and Lady Lions.
Students will be able to preview the new student seating, while also getting a sneak peek at the 2008-09 Lions and Lady Lions. A chance to name the new student section, as well as to learn and develop cheers for the upcoming season will also be available for students. Student organizations will also be able to adopt a men’s or women’s basketball student-athlete for the upcoming season.
The Southeastern men’s basketball program has won two Southland Conference titles in the past five seasons and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2004-05. The Lions are the only team in the state of Louisiana to post winning seasons in each of the past five seasons. The Lions will open the 2008-09 season on Nov. 14 at Arkansas and will host Miles College on Nov. 17 in the home opener.
The Southeastern women’s basketball program is only two years removed from the first conference title in school history, as the Lady Lions were Southland Conference East Division champions in 2006-07. Southeastern returns four of last season’s top five scorers, led by preseason All-Southland Conference selection Kristy Carlin. The Lady Lions will open their 2008-09 campaign at Houston on Nov. 14 and welcome North Florida to the University Center on Nov. 22 to open their home slate.
