Red Stick Chapter plans April 26 presidential reception in Baton Rouge

     HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association Red Stick Chapter is hosting a reception April 26 in honor of John L. Crain, who was named the university’s 14th president in February. The event will take place in Baton Rouge at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. Hays Town Jr., 1544 Stanford Ave., from 2 to 4 p.m.

     “We encourage everyone in the Baton Rouge area to come out and meet Dr. Crain,” said Kathy Pittman, alumni association director.

     Crain, a Franklinton native, is a 22-year veteran of the university. He served as interim president from July 2008 until his appointment as president in February, and previously was provost and vice president of academic affairs for six years. He is also a tenured faculty member and served as Faculty Senate president and head of the Department of Accounting.

     Honorary hosts include Annabelle Armstrong, JoAnn and Glen Bowman, Karen and James Brady, Diana and James Corbin, Jim Defrances, Michael G. Hackler, Pam and Bill Hyde, Mary and Ken Kenelly, Terri Blackwell LeBlanc, B.J. Lorio, Karen and Gino Marino, Mary and Clif Murphy, Debbie and Larry Nicholas, Brenda Truxillo and A. Hays Town III.

     Parking and shuttle service will be available at Trinity Episcopal Church and Day School at the corner of Morning Glory and Stanford.
