HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University is reporting extremely heavy telephone and walk-in traffic due to students trying to complete their preparations for the fall 2009 semester, university officials said today.

“The offices of Financial Aid, Admissions, and Records and Registration are all working at full capacity to handle the volume of calls and students walking in as they prepare to meet the university’s registration deadline on August 18,” said Jeff Rhodes, dean of enrollment management.

Students are encouraged to login to their Leonet accounts to get the most up-to-date information and service, Rhodes said. Questions about financial aid can be sent to finaid@selu.edu, and concerns about records and registration should be addressed to records@selu.edu.

“We are trying to provide our students and future students with the best service possible, but the volume of traffic and inquiries is stretching the staff,” he added. “Electronic communications will allow us to be able to more promptly respond to each student’s specific inquiry or concern.”
