Recital to feature premier of 'Bagatelles'

   HAMMOND – A recital featuring the world premier of a piece by Loyola University’s William Horne will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Southeastern Louisiana University’s Pottle Music Building.
   The performance of Horne’s “Bagatelles for Cello and Piano” will be performed by  Southeastern student Feliks Volozhanin on the cello and Southeasern pianist Henry Jones. The performance is free and open to the public.
   Horne, a professor of theory and composition at Loyola since 1976, is an acknowledged Brahms scholar and has composed numerous works for voice, chorus, keyboard, various chamber ensembles and orchestra.
   Russian born cellist Volozhanin has won first price in a number of competitions, including the Rapides Symphony and the Southeastern Concerto competition. A major in cello performance, he has performed as a recitalist, chamber musician and soloist with orchestras on two continents.
   Jones is a member of the Southeastern music faculty where he teaches applied piano. A graduate of Yale University with a doctorate from LSU, he is a winner of the LSU Symphony Concerto Competition.
