HAMMOND A memorial service has been scheduled for Thursday, March 12, for the Southeastern Louisiana University students whose lives were lost in a tragic accident last Friday.

The service will be held at 4 p.m. at the Katrina-Rita Memorial Fountain, located in the “quad” area framed by the War Memorial Student Union, Sims Memorial Library, and D Vickers and Fayard halls.

The ceremony will honor business administration graduate student Maxime Profit of Vaires Sur Marne, France; sophomore psychology major Beth Marie Boudreaux of Husser, and former student Thurman “Rion” Lowe III of Kenner, who was a member of the 2003 Lions football team.

The memorial ceremony will be conducted by Father Randy Cuevas, director and chaplain of the St. Albert the Great Chapel and Catholic Student Center. The program will also feature an introduction by Student Government Association President Zealon Solomon and remarks by President John L. Crain and French Consul General Olivier Brochenin.

Representatives of student organizations in which Profit, Boudreaux and Lowe participated will also present reflections. Estera Pirosca will represent the International Student Ministry; Dena Shaffett, Alpha Omicron Pi sorority; Anthony Rutledge, Gamma Beta Phi; and Josh Cryer, student-athletes.

Attendees are welcome to bring tributes such as flowers to leave at the fountain. In case of rain, the ceremony will move to the Student Union mall.
